23.03.2018

On March 21-22, 2018 the meeting of the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization (WTO TBT Committee) took place in Geneva. Belarus’ delegation, headed by Mr Alexander Tatun, head of the International Cooperation Department of Belarus’ Gosstandard, participated in the meeting as an observer.

At the meeting the information of WTO members, including the EAEU member states, on the implementation of the provisions of the WTO TBT Agreement, as well as specific trade concerns of the WTO members on their application of technical regulation measures was considered. Participation in the work of the Committee provides information on the technical regulation measures planned by WTO members, which is used to assess impact of such measures on the conditions for access of the Belarusian goods to foreign markets.

The leading consultant of the Department for International Cooperation of the Gosstandard Ms. Kristina Nenadovets also took part in the WTO advanced course on the WTO TBT Agreement, which is being held in Geneva from March 12 to 23. In addition to Belarus, representatives of 22 WTO Member-States and Observer States were invited to participate in the course.
