Belarus entered the group of states with the very high human development

Recently, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) presented a new Human Development Report “Human Development Indices and Indicators: 2018 Statistical Update” at the UN Headquarters in New York.

This document includes an analysis of the state of human development across the world. On its basis 189 countries were HDI ranked.

The main indicators, on which the rating was determined, are the following: life expectancy at birth, expected years of schooling and gross national income  (GNI) per capita. Data on the level of social protection, indicators of health and cultural development of the population, gender equality, crime, environmental protection, citizens’ participation in decision-making were also taken into account.

This year Belarus entered the group of States with the very high level of human development for the first time ever, taking the 53rd position. This group, which includes 59 countries, is leaded by Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Ireland and Germany.

Belarus consistently pursues a policy aimed at ensuring sustainable social and economic development, improving the welfare and quality of life of citizens.
