On the statement of H.E. Mr. Yury Ambrazevich, Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva, at the presentation of the Investment Policy Review of Armenia at UNCTAD

On 11 November 2019 H.E. Mr. Yury Ambrazevich, Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva spoke at the presentation of the Investment Policy Review of Armenia, prepared by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

 

Yury Ambrazevich emphasized the existing friendly relations and growth of mutual trade between Belarus and Armenia, including in the context of both countries’ membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. The representative of Belarus appreciated the review prepared by UNCTAD and expressed confidence that the implementation of UNCTAD’s proposals aiming at improving of Armenia’s investment regime would result in growth of foreign direct investment inflow.

Yury Ambrazevich informed the participants about the successful preparation by UNCTAD of a similar review for Belarus in 2009, which significantly contributed to the improvement of the national investment legislation.

Stressing the existing positive experience in preparing such reviews for Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, Yury Ambrazevich proposed to UNCTAD to consider the possibility of preparing a regional investment policy review for the entire EAEU, as it was done for the countries of South-East Europe in 2017.
