On Belarus participation in the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents

On 4 – 6 December 2018, the 10th Conference of the Parties to UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents took place in Geneva.

The event was attended by representatives of more than 40 countries in the region of the Commission. Belarus was represented by delegation of the Department for the Supervision of the Safe Management in Industry of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, including Mr. Mikalai Bohdan, First Deputy Head of the Department and Mr. Pavel Chukharau, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department.

The Belarusian delegation took part in the discussions on the improvement of industrial risk management systems, the implementation of the Convention at the current stage and in the future. A long-term strategy for the implementation of the Convention until 2030 and a strategy on the interaction of the national services of the UNECE region for the prevention of accidents have been adopted at the Conference.

During the Workshop on Risk Assessment Methodologies, the Belarusian delegation presented a national experience on the classification of emerging risks of industrial accidents and the measures to prevent them.

Participation in the Conference contributes to the advancement of Belarusian interests and the fulfilment of its international obligations in the field of prevention of industrial accidents.
