On the Participation of Belarusian Delegation at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week in Geneva

The delegation of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Belarus headed by Alexandr Dokuchaev, Head of the International Cooperation Department, takes part at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week, which is being held in Geneva on 6 – 10 February.

Belarus actively participates in the activities of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) and of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG). The Republican Special Tasks Forces of MES of Belarus are among five the most qualified emergency response teams in the world (known as heavy teams) in accordance with the INSARAG criteria. Belarusian representatives take part in the meetings of the governing bodies of UNDAC and INSARAG.

The participants of the Week come together to exchange their experience on emergencies preparedness and response, to strengthen multilateral interagency cooperation and coordination among search and rescue teams in case of emergencies.

Belarusian representatives have also met the representatives of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, International Civil Defense Organization, UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction to discuss the current state and possible areas of future cooperation, including organization of joint events.

Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week is an annual major event held since 2015 under the auspices of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Aim of the Week is to coordinate the international efforts on emergency response to the most complex humanitarian crises (natural, man-made or related to the armed conflicts).
