On 28 October 2014 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Aleksandr Guryanov held consultations at the WTO headquarters with the Chairman of the WTO Working Party on Belarus’ Accession H.E. Mr. Haluk Ilicak and senior officials of the WTO Secretariat responsible for accessions.
The parties reviewed the current situation in Belarus’ WTO accession including in the view of the perspectives of development of the Eurasian integration. The WTO partners noted the importance of the documentation provided recently by Belarus. They also emphasized emerging favorable conditions for activation of the negotiating process which were based on a number of factors. The parties have agreed as to further steps which need to be taken to ensure progress in the negotiations. Belarus confirmed its strong interest and readiness to step up efforts aimed at expediting the accession to the WTO.
