Belarus nominated to the Executive Committee of the World Health Organization by the European region countries

September 15th the Republic of Belarus was nominated to the Executive Board of the World Health Organization as the country which represents Europe region.

The decision of the heads of health authorities of 53 European states confirmed the high authority of the public health system of the Republic of Belarus both in the region and in the world as a whole.

Membership of the Republic of Belarus in the WHO Executive Board will allow mobilize additional opportunities in the activities of the Government of Belarus with WHO in the field of practical medicine and in the management of the health system. As well as it will create additional opportunities for the domestic health care to promote their achievements abroad.

The WHO Executive Committee consists of 34 health-qualified experts, usually at the level of heads of health authorities, representing WHO member States and elected for a 3-year period. The WHO Executive Committee meets regularly twice a year, in January and may. The last time Belarus participated as a member of the Executive Committee in 1948-1950.
