UN Human Rights Council adopts the report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of Belarus

On September 24, 2015 the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) at its 30th session adopts unanimously the report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of the Republic of Belarus.

The Report comprises the outcomes of the Universal Periodic Review of Belarus at the Human Rights Council which took place in May 2015.

In accordance with the established practice during the consideration of the Report the delegation of Belarus presented to the HRC its position towards the recommendations made at the UPR Working Group session and implementation plans.

The majority of speakers on behalf of the UN member states welcomed the constructive participation of Belarus in the UPR and recommended to continue its work on the promotion and protection of all human rights in the country.

UPR is  a mechanism created to review human rights situation in all countries of the world, as well as the level of implementation of the international commitments of the entire spectrum of human rights: economic, political, social, civil and cultural. Countries shall be reviewed once every 4.5 years.
