Belarus and Norway signed the protocol on completion of negotiations on Belarus’ accession to the WTO

05.12.2017

On December 5, 2017, the protocol on the completion of bilateral negotiations on market access for goods and services between Belarus and Norway in the framework of Belarus’ accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) was signed in Geneva.

On behalf of Belarus the document was signed by the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Yury Ambrazevich, on behalf of Norway – by the Permanent Representative to the WTO Harald Neple.

Y.Ambrazevich expressed hope that the signing of the protocol would not only facilitate Belarus’ early accession to the WTO, but would also be an additional incentive for further expansion of trade and investment cooperation between Belarus and Norway.

The agreement on the completion of negotiations with Norway, started in 2005, was achieved in principle on November 13-14, 2017, in Minsk during the visit of the delegation of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by the Chief Negotiator on Trade in Services Harald Andreassen.

Norway became the 14th WTO Member, with which the protocols on the completion of bilateral negotiations on Belarus’ accession to the WTO were signed. Earlier in 2017 similar documents were signed with the Republic of Korea, Japan and Ecuador.
