On the participation of the delegation of Belarus in the 42nd Session of the PCB UNAIDS

On June 26-28 2018, the 42nd session of the Program Coordinating Board of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, the Executive body of UNAIDS, was held in Geneva. First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus D.Pinevich took part in the event on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Belarus.

The focus of the session was on the response of the world community to the challenges related to the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAIDS programmes, preventing the spread of co-infections among vulnerable populations, especially tuberculosis and hepatitis C, and reducing stigma and discrimination against patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

During the session D.Pinevich presented the experience of Belarus in the fight against the disease, based on working with focus groups and introduction through the pharmacy network of Belarus of self-testing for a wide coverage of the diagnosis of the disease among the population of the country.

In addition, the First Deputy Minister of Health participated in the thematic segment of the 42nd session of the PCB UNAIDS on the joint struggle against AIDS and tuberculosis. During the panel discussion, he noted the active implementation by the Government of Belarus of TB screening among vulnerable population groups, the exchange of patient registers for HIV and TB by medical institutions and social support for patients with HIV/AIDS/TB.
