On the 20-th session of UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy

 The 20-th session of the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy took place from 25 to 28 October 2014 in Geneva.

The Republic of Belarus was represented in these events by the delegation, composed from the representatives of the Ministry of Environment and the Permanent Mission.

The session addressed the issues of the “Environment for Europe” process review, the preparation for the 8-th Ministerial Conference, the general issues of monitoring and reporting on the environment.

Under the agenda item on cross-sectoral activities the topics of Education for Sustainable Development, the Pan-European Programme on Transport, Health and Environment and the “green” building were discussed.

The Committee also considered the draft rules of procedure. Given the proposals received from the parties, the Committee adopted a decision to further discuss it at the meetings of the Bureau of the Committee and continue its consideration during the 21-th session of the Committee.

Belarusian delegation held consultations with the UNECE and UNEP Secretariats, reaching agreement on the organizing of Environmental Policy Review in Belarus in 2015, and also regarding assistance in the implementation of Minamata Convention on Mercury.
