On discussion on combating trafficking in human beings (32nd HRC session)

On June 15, 2016 the side-event dedicated to strengthening of coordination and cooperation in combating trafficking in human beings in the light of the recent adoption of the sustainable development goals 2030 took place in Geneva on the margins of the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council. The Republic of Belarus as coordinator the Group of friends united against human trafficking in cooperation with the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and other members of the Group took the initiative in organization of this event.

The representatives of the international organizations-members of the Inter-agency coordination group against trafficking in persons, namely OHCHR, UNHCR, ILO, IOM and UNICEF spoke during the event. The position of Belarus regarding the improvement of coordination of all stakeholders in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development was delivered by Mr. Vadim Pisarevich, Head of the Department for Global Policies and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

The participants exchanged views on the existing difficulties in coordination of joint efforts in combating human trafficking and agreed to continue discussion on this topic on other UN fora with the aim to enhance effectiveness of these efforts.
