Belarusian delegation took part in a thematic plenary meeting of the UN Conference on Disarmament
17.06.2016On June 16, 2016 Belarusian delegation took part in a thematic plenary meeting of the UN Conference on Disarmament, devoted to the issues of new types of weapons of mass destruction and new systems of such weapons; comprehensive disarmament program and transparency in armaments.
During the event the position of the Republic of Belarus on the issues of the prevention of an arms race in outer space, of new types of weapons of mass destruction and new systems of such weapons; comprehensive disarmament program and transparency in armaments was presented to the Member States of the Conference.
The Belarusian delegation stressed the need for strengthening of the international legal framework of international security, disarmament and non-proliferation. Attention was drawn to the need for an international legal ban on the development and application of new types of weapons of mass destruction, on the conclusion of a treaty banning the deployment of weapons in outer space and on strengthening of the existing international legal regimes banning chemical and biological weapons.
