On the 68th session of the World Health Assembly

The 68th session of the World Health Assembly has begun its work in Geneva on 18 May 2015. The Belarusian delegation is headed by the Minister of Health V.I. Zharko.

 
 
During the work of the Assembly it is expected to discuss and make decisions on the topical issues of global health: prevention and treatment of noncommunicable diseases, tuberculosis prevention and control, the newborn's health, expanding access to essential drugs.
 
In his speech at the plenary session of the World Health Assembly, the head of the Belarusian delegation drew attention to the primary health problems: the development of primary care, the gradual transition to the general practice, strengthening the preventive orientation, expanding the use of telemedicine technology consulting.
 
V.I. Zarko also highlighted the measures taken by the Republic of Belarus to strengthen the health system, in particular, improvement of legislation, updating the material and technical base, streamlining the management structure of health care, the development of primary health care.
 
Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus has had meetings and talks with the WHO Director-General Margaret Chan, the special envoy of UN Secretary General for HIV / AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia Michel Kazatchkine, director of the IAEA's Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy Nelly Broms Enver, Ministers of Health of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Cuba, Lithuania, Russia, Syria, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. They discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, supplies of Belarusian medicines.
 
In the course of the Belarusian-Lithuanian talks, the Ministers of health of both countries signed an agreement on inter-ministerial cooperation in the field of health.
