On Belarus' participation in the WTO Committee meeting on technical barriers to trade

The meeting of the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization (WTO) took place on November 8-9, 2017 in Geneva. The delegation of Belarus headed by Elena Kaloshkina, head of the Foreign Trade Regulation Divison of the Department for Foreign Economic Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in the event as an observer. The delegation also included representatives of the Permanent Mission of Belarus in Geneva.



At the meeting the information of WTO members, including the EAEU member states, on the implementation of the provisions of the WTO TBT Agreement, as well as specific trade concerns of the WTO members on their application of technical regulation measures was considered.

An informal meeting on the Eighth Triennial Review of the work of the Committee also took place.

Participation in the work of the Committee facilitates negotiations process on Belarus' accession to the WTO and provides information on the technical regulation measures planned by WTO members, which is used to assess impact of such measures on the conditions for access of the Belarusian goods to foreign markets.
