On consultations with WIPO on the establishment in Belarus of a national center for mediation in the field of intellectual property

Following up the agreements reached during the visit to Minsk in January 2018 of Mr. John Sandage, WIPO Deputy Director General, on 25 — 26 February 2019 a delegation of Belarus National Center of Intellectual Property held consultations at the World Intellectual Property Organization and the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center on the establishment in Minsk of a national center for mediation in intellectual property. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Mr. Aleksei Kurman, Deputy Head of the Division of Registration and Economics of Industrial Property.

The delegation met with Mr. Erik Wilbers, Director of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, and Mr. Michal Svantner, Director of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries, were the organizational and legal issues on establishment of the center for mediation in Belarus were discussed.



Mr. Erik Wilbers assured the Belarusian side in his support for the initiative to set up such center and offered the necessary expert and advisory assistance in developing the rules of procedure of the center and training national experts in arbitration and mediation.
