On the session of the WIPO Committee on Development and Intellectual Property

14 – 18 May 2018, the 21st session of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Committee on Development and Intellectual Property took place in Geneva.

Delegates from 80 WIPO Member States, 9 international intergovernmental organizations, as well as 11 international non-governmental organizations participated in the Committee. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Mr. Arthur Akhramenko, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the National Center for Intellectual Property.

 

The Belarusian delegation took an active participation in the discussions on the implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda, as well as providing technical assistance to WIPO Member States. Particular consideration was given to issues of organization and holding of the national seminar for experts on intellectual property, which is scheduled to take place in Minsk in June 2018.

The WIPO Development Agenda for was adopted by Member States of the Organization in 2007. The document contains 45 recommendations which provide for the provision of technical assistance and expertise to WIPO Member States, describe the principles for the elaboration by WIPO Members of national legal base on intellectual property, as well as the development of IT resources on aspects of intellectual property. The Agenda regulates institutional issues on cooperation with WIPO.
