On the participation in multistakeholder consultations of UNAIDS

On April 28, 2017 the Belarusian delegation headed by A. Grushkovsky, Head of the Department of External Relations of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, participated in multistakeholder consultations to assess the capacity of UNAIDS in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

The purpose of the multi-stakeholder consultations is to assess the capacity of UNAIDS in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, and to make appropriate recommendations to the UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board (PCB, the executive body of the Joint Program).

During the event the delegation of Belarus as a member of the PCB UNAIDS presented the national experience in combating HIV/AIDS, as well as the areas of identification, prevention and cessation of the AIDS epidemic in the future. They spoke for the expediency of using methadone replacement therapy for the treatment of vulnerable groups of people, where Belarus has accumulated advanced experience.

Conducted a conversation with the UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe, during which they confirmed the directions of further cooperation with UNAIDS, determined during the meeting on April 13, 2017 in Minsk between the President of Belarus A. Lukashenko and M. Sidibe.
