On the 9-th BWC Review Conference

On November 28, 2022, the 9-th Review Conference of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC) began its work in Geneva.

During the general debate, the Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva, Larysa Belskaya delivered a joint statement by the foreign ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

The statement stressed the need to strengthen the BWC, create an effective mechanism for verifying compliance with the Convention, drew attention to initiatives to create mobile biomedical teams within its framework, as well as a Scientific Advisory Committee to analyze the achievements of science and technology related to the BWC. The importance of improving confidence-building measures between the member states of the Convention was noted.
