On the meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Avramenko with the UNECE Executive Secretary
21.02.2017On February 20, 2017 the First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Aleksei Avramenko met with the UNECE Executive Secretary Mr. Christian Friis Bach. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the UNECE Transport Division Ms. Eva Molnar and Permanent Representative of Belarus Mr. Yury Ambrazevich.
During the meeting the sides discussed and highly appreciated the level of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Inland Transport Committee, an expert body of the UNECE, which is governing international cooperation in the field of transport. The fact that the Republic of Belarus is a party to many international agreements developed under the auspices of the UNECE in the field of road, rail and combined transport, as well as customs procedures, contributes to the smooth transit of passengers and goods through the territory of Belarus.
Mr. Avramenko informed interlocutors about the ongoing activities of the presidency of Belarus in the Central European Initiative (CEI) in 2017, and invited UNECE representatives to take part in the Ministerial Conference on promoting connectivity in the CEI region, which will be held in Minsk on June 8, 2017.
