08.05.2019

On May 6-7, 2019, the 21st session of the UNECE Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment took place in Geneva. The event was attended by the delegation of Belarus which included Ms. Ekaterina Poleshchuk, Head of the Environment Statistics Department of the National Statistics Committee, and Ms. Marina Kalinovik, consultant to the Directorate-General for Environmental Policy, International Cooperation and Science of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

During the session the best practices were shared in the UNECE region in the field of environmental monitoring and assessment. The delegation of Belarus informed about the results of the work of the National Environmental Monitoring System and the launch of the National Platform for Reporting on Indicators for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The placement on the Belstat website of individual indicators of “green” growth, which characterize the processes of greening the economy through the conservation and rational use of natural resources and the impact of these processes on the development of the social sphere, was particularly noted (https://bit.ly/2Jplt3D).
