16.10.2019

On 15 and 16 October Geneva is hosting the 2nd session of the 2019 International Dialogue on Migration. The first session was held in February in New York.

For reference: The international dialogue on migration has been held on an annual basis since 2001 by decision of the Council of the International Organization for Migration. This forum is attended by all interested parties — states, international organizations, civil society, the private sector. The purpose of the dialogue is to contribute to a greater understanding of migration in the world through the exchange of opinions, practices and the development of recommendations. The annual dialogue is usually held on a specific topic.

The Geneva session is dedicated to youth and migration. The Republic of Belarus is represented at the event at the Permanent Mission level. On the first day of the dialogue, the representative of the Permanent Mission spoke in an interactive discussion on the topic of youth migration and technology. In his comments he focused on the problem of trafficking in persons carried out with the use of technology in the context of the Belarusian resolution on this topic, adopted in 2018 in Vienna at the UN Commission on Crime Prevention.
