On the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the meeting of the WTO Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures

On 12-13 July 2018, the meeting of the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures of the World Trade Organization (WTO) took place in Geneva.

Belarus as a WTO observer State has been represented at the meeting by Mr. Kirill Glushchenko, Deputy Head of the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and Ms. Ekaterina Fedorenko, Deputy Director of the Scientific and Practical Center for Hygiene.

The participants of the meeting have reviewed the information of the WTO members on national regimes in the field of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures (SPS measures), on the implementation of the WTO SPS Agreement, as well as trade concerns of the WTO members on SPS issues.

Participation in the meeting of the Committee allows the Belarusian side to receive information on the conditions for access of Belarusian goods to foreign markets and facilitates the conclusion of the multilateral negotiations on Belarus' accession to the WTO.
