On the participation of the delegation of Belarus in the in the 17th meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Anti-Personnel Mines

The delegation of Belarus took part in the 17th meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-personnel Mines, which was held in Geneva on November 26-30, 2018.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Convention, including the clean-up of territories and the elimination of stocks of anti-personnel mines. During the event, the deputy head of the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, Colonel Ihar Yarmolenka, presented a national report on the successful experience of the destruction of anti-personnel mines stockpiles in the Republic of Belarus.

The destruction of anti-personnel mines stockpiles by Belarus is assessed by the States Parties to the Convention as an important step in the stated goal of achieving a World without anti-personnel mines by 2025.
