The Human Rights Council held a panel discussion

09.11.2016

On November 9, 2016 the Human Rights Council held an intersessional panel discussion to share experiences and good practices in the establishment and strengthening of national human rights follow-up systems and processes.

The representative of Belarus informed participants of the event about the adoption on October 24, 2016 of the National interministerial plan on the implementation of recommendations accepted by the Republic of Belarus following the second cycle of the UPR and recommendations addressed to the Republic of Belarus by the treaty bodies, which was elaborated and approved by the Council of Ministers on the instruction of the Head of State.

It was underlined that Belarus attaches great importance to the Universal Periodic Review which is the only existing widely recognized and objective monitoring mechanism of human rights protection and promotion. That is why the very first National plan on human rights in Belarus is based upon recommendations received under the second cycle of the UPR.
