25.04.2019

Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva Mr. Yury Ambrazevich spoke at the event to celebrate the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, held on April 24, 2019, at the United Nations Office in Geneva.

For reference: The International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace was established by resolution of the UN General Assembly 73/127, adopted on December 12, 2018. The event in Geneva was organized by the Non-Aligned Movement.

In his statement the Permanent Representative of Belarus stressed the importance of multilateral approaches in the current complex and interdependent world. He drew attention to the event on the topic of global security, held in Geneva on April 8 at the initiative of Belarus and with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei as a keynote speaker. The Permanent Representative of Belarus underlined two central points from the Minister’s address: 1) the need to “launch” a comprehensive global security dialogue, 2) the need to create relevant global partnerships on the basis of the Geneva “thematic” organizations in order to effectively address multiple contemporary problems, challenges and threats.
