On the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the 107th session of the International Labor Conference

From May 28 to June 8, 2018, the 107th session of the International Labor Conference (ILC) is going on in Geneva (Swiss Confederation). The Governmental Delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Ms Irina Kostevich took part in the session from the 1st to 5th of June. The Belarusian delegation includes the head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mr Mikhail Orda and the head of the Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Mr Victor Timofeev.

The ILC session examines the observance of fundamental principles and rights in the field of social and labor relations, decent work in the context of the transition to peace, labor migration and social equality, the eradication of child labor as well as women's labor rights.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus Ms Irina Kostevich took part in the plenary session of the 107th session of the ILC where she presented her report on the role of women in the world of work; the work of the Committee on the Application of Standards and the Committee on Employment and Decent Work.

On the margins of the current session of the ILC, the Head of the Governmental Belarusian delegation held bilateral meetings with the Chairman of the Workers' Group of the International Labor Organization C.Passchier, the Chairman of the ILO Employers' Group Mtunji Mdwaba, Special Adviser to the Director-General of the ILO K.Tapiola, the Director of the International Labor Standards Department K.Varga, as well as the Minister of Labour of Syria Rima al-Qadiri.

During the talks, the interest of the Government of Belarus in developing fruitful cooperation with the International Labor Organization was confirmed. The ILO is an important source of international expertise and best practices in the regulation of the world of work. Its norms and standards are systematically used by the Government of Belarus in the work to improve labor and social relations.
