On the study visit of the Belarusian State Economic University delegation to Geneva

On October 14-17, 2019, with the assistance of the Permanent Mission of Belarus in Geneva a study visit of a group of teachers and students of the Belarusian State Economic University led by the Vice-Rector Ms. Alla Pranevich was held to Geneva for the first time.

The program of the visit included more than 20 training events at the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the International Trade Center (ITC).

Teachers and students have had the opportunity to get first-hand information about the main activities of international economic organizations, the priorities and specific projects of their cooperation with the government of Belarus. Special attention was paid to the process of Belarus accession to the WTO. Following the results of the meeting of Ms. Alla Pranevich with representatives of these organizations, promising areas of academic cooperation, including distance learning, were also agreed.

During the meeting with the delegation of the Belarusian State Economic University, the Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva Mr. Yury Ambrazevich emphasized the practical importance of the government’s work with international organizations in the field of trade, finance and investment to ensure Belarus' foreign economic interests, as well as its political sovereignty. Ambassador Yury Ambrazevich welcomed the interest of students and teachers of the Belarusian State Economic University to the processes taking place in the international economy, noted the importance of their deep understanding by future young specialists. In this regard he expressed confidence that the meetings in Geneva will be useful both in the current research and subsequent professional activities. At the same time the Permanent Representative of Belarus highlighted another important aspect of the visit of students and teachers from Belarus to Geneva, identifying this visit as a vivid example of public diplomacy.
