On the meeting of UNCTAD regional group of the EAEU countries with the Permanent Representative of Barbados in Geneva
19.02.2021On February 19, 2021, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office in Geneva H.E. Mr. Yury Ambrazevich took part in the meeting of UNCTAD regional group of the EAEU countries with the Permanent Representative of Barbados in Geneva H.E. Mr. Chad Blackman. Barbados is the Host Country of the 15-th UNCTAD Conference, scheduled for 3-8 October 2021.
During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on the expected format and program of the Conference, as well as the priorities regarding the future mandate and work of UNCTAD.
Yury Ambrazevich informed about the interest of the Republic of Belarus in strengthening the mandate of UNCTAD and its expert and analytical potential, as well as in the development of the activities of this international organization aimed at assisting middle-income countries and countries with economies in transition in the fields of trade, investment, competition and development.
The Permanent Representative of Belarus put forward an initiative to convene a joint preparatory event for the 15-th UNCTAD Conference, dedicated to harnessing regional integration for the Sustainable Development Goals accomplishment.
