About the regional seminar in Minsk on intellectual property for universities and research institutes

On 23-24 October 2019, a regional seminar “Intellectual Property Policy for Universities and Research Institutes” was held in Minsk at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

 

The seminar was organized by the State Committee for Science and Technology and the National Center for Science and Technology of Belarus in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for representatives of universities and research institutes. Mr. Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, Mr. Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Mr. Vladimir Ryabovolov, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property addressed welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony.

Experts from the WIPO, as well as representatives of universities and research institutes from Belarus, Russia, Serbia, Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovenia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan made presentations on the development and implementation of IP policy for educational institutions, on commercialization of intellectual property, as well as on the technology transfer issues.

A meeting of the working group on the development of an intellectual property policy for higher education institutions and scientific organizations of Belarus took place during the seminar.
