12.07.2018

On July 11-13, 2018, the 17th session of Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy under the aegis of UNCTAD takes place in Geneva. The Belarusian delegation headed by Mr Vladimir Koltovich, Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, takes part in work of the session.

The Group of Experts considers the key practices of development of competition policy, including the issue of further development of the UN Set on Mutually agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control over Restrictive Business Practices.

On July 11, 2018, Mr Vladimir Koltovich held a meeting with the Head of Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD Ms Teresa Moreira. It was agreed that UNCTAD will make a review of a new redaction of Belarusian Law “On combating monopolistic activity and development of competition” coming into force in August 2018.

The cooperation of Belarus within the Intergovernmental Group and the UNCTAD’s legislation review will greatly contribute to the development of economic relations in Belarus on the basis of competition and fair market access, and will provide access to the best world experience and antimonopoly practices which might be used during competitions investigations.
