On the meeting of the representative of Belarus with the fellows of the UN Programme of Fellowships on Disarmament

On August 28, 2017, the Deputy Head of the Department for International Security and Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Ovsyanko met with fellows of the United Nations Programme of Fellowships on Disarmament. During the conversation with representatives of 25 states, an open dialogue on the role and priorities of Belarus in the issues of disarmament, non-proliferation and international security was held.

The participants of the Program were informed about the outcomes of the discussion in the United Nations Conference on Disarmament under the co-facilitation of the Permanent Representative of Belarus Yury Ambrezevich on the issues of new types of weapons of mass destruction and new systems of such weapons, a comprehensive program of disarmament and transparency in armaments.

The representative of Belarus also outlined the national approaches to the relevance and importance of the UN General Assembly resolution " Prohibition of the development and manufacture of new types of weapons of mass destruction and new systems of such weapons: report of the Conference on Disarmament ", which is regularly tabled by the Republic of Belarus in the UNGA First Committee.
