On the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the meeting of the UNECE Steering Committee on Capacity and Trade Standards

On 3-4 May 2018 the fourth session of the Steering Committee on the Potential and Standards of Trade of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe took place in Geneva.

Belarusian delegation which included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the United Nations Office in Geneva participated in the session.

The session was devoted to consideration of the UNECE study on regulatory and procedural obstacles to trade in Georgia, as well as developments on this area in Albania, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Mr. Igor Kanash, Head of the Strategic Projects Department at the Ministry of Communications, delivered a presentation on the implementation in Belarus of the State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy and the Information Society for the period of 2016 through 2020. Belarusian delegation discussed further implementation of the technical assistance project “Regulatory and procedural barriers to trade in Belarus. Needs Assessment”, which is aimed at developing recommendations to the Belarusian side on the creation of the National Electronic Trading System.
