On the activities of the Belarusian delegation during the 106th session of the ILC

The 106th session of the International Labor Conference (ILC)  is going on in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) from 5 to 16 June 2017. The Governmental Delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus Irina Kostevich took part in the session from 9 to 13 June. On behalf of the Workers, the delegation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, led by M.Orda takes part in ILC, on behalf of the employers — the Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, headed by V.Timofeev.

The ILC session examines the observance of fundamental principles and rights in the field of social and labor relations, decent work in the context of the transition to peace, labor migration and social equality, the eradication of child labor, and the development of the labor market in the green economy.

The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus Irina Kostevich took part in the plenary session of the 106th session of the ILC, in voting on the election of members of the ILO Governing Body, the work of the Committee on the Application of Standards and the Committee on Employment and Decent Work.

On the site of the current session of the ILC, the Head of the Governmental Belarusian delegation held bilateral meetings with the Chairman of the Workers' Group of the International Labor Organization L.Kortebek, the Speaker of the ILO Employers' Group Mtunji Mdbava, the Assistant Director-General of the ILO in Europe and Central Asia H.Koeller, the Special Adviser to the Director-General of the ILO K.Tapiola, as well as K.Varga, Director of the International Labor Standards Department.

During the talks, the interest of the Government of Belarus in developing fruitful cooperation with the International Labor Organization was confirmed. The ILO is an important source of international expertise and best practices in the regulation of the world of work. Its norms and standards are systematically used by the Government of Belarus in the work to improve labor and social relations.
