On the participation of Belarus in the 58th series of meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization
25.09.2018The Belarusian delegation led by the Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva Mr Yury Ambrazevich takes part in the annual sessions of the WIPO governing assemblies (24.09 — 2.10.2018, Geneva).
The delegation includes the Director General of the National Center for Intellectual Property (NCIP) of Belarus Petr Brovkin, the head of the NGI law and international treaties department Tatyana Kovalevskaya, as well as the staff of the Permanent Mission of Belarus in Geneva.
The agenda of the meetings includes issues affecting the actual problems of implementation and protection of rights to intellectual property, including copyright and related rights, patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications.
In his speech on September 24 in the opening segment of the Assemblies Mr Yury Ambrazevich stated about the practical orientation of the cooperation between the Government of Belarus and WIPO and acquainted delegates with concrete results of the work on improving the national intellectual property system of Belarus, carried out in close partnership with WIPO.
Also on September 24, 2018, on the margins of meetings of the Assemblies, there was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Intellectual Property between the National Center for Science and Technology of Belarus and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. On behalf of Belarus, the document was signed by the Director General of the NCIS, Mr Peter Brovkin, on behalf of Ukraine – by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mr Mikhail Titarchuk.
