On the participation of the UNECE Executive Secretary in the Minsk Regional Coordinators Forum on the Goals of Sustainable Development
22.02.2018UNECE Executive Secretary Olga Algayerova participated in the Regional Forum of Coordinators on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Building a Partnership to Underpin National Sustainable Development Solutions (February 21-22, 2018, Minsk).
Olga Algayerova became one of the guest speakers at the interactive discussion Cooperation and coordination in achieving SDGs: innovative solutions to combat inequalities.
Within the delegation headed by the First Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, Olga Algayerova took part in meetings with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei.
Ms. Algayerova held bilateral meetings with the Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology (SCST) Alexander Shumilin and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk. Representatives of the SCST and the UNECE signed a Memorandum on the implementation of the recommendations of the second review of innovative development.
Olga Algayerova gave an interview to the Belarusian media, in which she shared her assessment of the results of the Forum and the interaction between Belarus and the UNECE.
Regular visit of the UNECE Executive Secretary to Minsk confirms the active and constructive interaction between Belarus and the United Nations. The meetings held by the head of the UNECE Secretariat confirmed that cooperation with UNECE plays an important role in strengthening the economy of Belarus, that cooperation with UNECE plays an important role in strengthening the economy of Belarus, enhancing innovations, modernization of work in the sphere of state environmental policy.
The outcomes of the Minsk Forum will be presented during the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, which will be held in Geneva on March 1-2, 2018.
