On holding in Minsk the WIPO National Seminar on the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs

As a follow-up to the agreements reached during the official visit to Belarus in June 2019 of H.E. Mr. Francis Garry, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), on 20-21 November 2019, the national seminar “The Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs” took pace in Minsk. The event was organized by the National Center for Intellectual Property in collaboration with the WIPO Secretariat.

 

More than 40 experts of governmental bodies of Belarus and Belarus Chamber of Commerce participated in the seminar. The agenda was devoted to issues on legal regulation of industrial designs registration in Belarus, the application of provisions of the Hague system of international registration of industrial designs, on the filing and consideration of relevant national and international applications for registration.

Mr. Vladimir Ryabovolov, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property of Belarus welcomed participants at the opening ceremony of the seminar.

The seminar aims to develop partnerships of the WIPO Secretariat with the patent offices of the region of Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus through the provision of technical and expert support on intellectual property issues. The event is of practical importance for our country in terms of assessing the feasibility of Belarus joining the Hague Agreement on Industrial Designs.
