On the accreditation of the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the Conference on Disarmament

  On May 19, 2022, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus in Geneva, Larysa Belskaya, presented accreditation documents to the Chairman of the Conference on Disarmament, Permanent Representative of Cuba in Geneva, Juan Antonio Quintanilla Roman.

  The Permanent Representative of Belarus discussed with the President of the Conference the prospects for the work of this forum, as well as Belarusian initiatives in the field of disarmament and international security.

  Later that day, Larysa Belskaya addressed the plenary session of the Conference. The Belarusian diplomat focused on the crisis developments in the international security system. She brought to the attention of the Conference participants the approaches of the Belarusian leadership to the problem of ensuring universal and indivisible security, inter alia, in the context of the conflict in Ukraine and the need for its speedy settlement. Urging to do everything possible to reduce the degree of regional and global confrontation, L.Belskaya noted the relevance of the Belarusian initiative to launch a broad international dialogue to overcome existing contradictions in the field of security. Stating the need for an adequate response to new threats and challenges, the Belarusian diplomat called to intensify the activities of the Conference to develop recommendations to prevent the use of scientific and technological achievements for destructive purposes. In the context of crucial goals to strengthen digital security and combat cyber threats, L.Belskaya drew attention to the Belarusian initiative to create a “digital neighborhood” belt.
