On Belarus participation in the meeting of the UNECE Working Group on Aging
19.11.2019On 18-20 November 2019, in Geneva, the 12th meeting of the UNECE Working Group on Aging and a policy seminar “Informal care for persons with dementia” were held in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
Belarus at the events was represented by Ms. Tatyana Fyodorova, Head of the Department of Social Services Organization of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
During the meeting of the Working Group on Aging, participants reviewed the current situation on the implementation in UNECE region of national policies in the area of aging and the involvement of older people in the social, cultural and educational spheres of society, considered issues on the application of regional and international initiatives on aging. Participants of the meeting approved a report on the activities of the Group in 2019 and adopted its program of work for 2020.
During the session of the Working Group, Tatyana Fyodorova presented the draft National Strategy of Belarus “Decent Longevity — 2030”, which was drafted by the Belarusian side with the expert assistance of the population department of UNECE Secretariat. The draft Strategy should be finalized by the end of 2019.
During the seminar “Informal care for persons with dementia,” the Belarusian delegation took an active part in the discussions on the implementation of national strategies to combat dementia, on introduction of the effective measures to support affected families, and also on exchange of experience and the best practices in this area.
