On holding the EAEU Days in Geneva
03.10.2025On October 2, the official opening of the “Eurasian Economic Union Days” took place at the Palais des Nations, the headquarters of the United Nations Office in Geneva.
The Republic of Belarus, which holds the EAEU Presidency in 2025, supported the Eurasian Economic Commission’s initiative to hold this landmark event and made a significant contribution to its organization.
Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, Chairman of the EEC Board Bakytzhan Sagintayev, and Permanent Representative of Belarus Larysa Belskaya spoke at the opening ceremony of the “EAEU Days”.
The “EAEU Days” events were attended by numerous representatives of countries from all regions of the world.
The central event of the “EAEU Days” was an exhibition dedicated to the rich tourism potential of the EAEU Member States. Among the Belarusian exhibits presented at the exhibition were Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, the cultural and historical monuments of the Brest Fortress and Mir Castle, the unique architecture of the Trinity Suburb in Minsk, and the house-museum of the world-famous artist Marc Chagall in Vitebsk. A stand dedicated to the development of industrial tourism in our country, specifically a tour of BELAZ – one of the flagships of industrialization and technological development in modern Belarus – generated great interest among event’s numerous guests.
The round table “EAEU Regional Economic Integration: Outcomes of 10 Years and Prospects for Partnership” featured speeches from heads and experts of the Eurasian Economic Commission and diplomatic missions of the EAEU Member States – Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia – as well as of relevant international organizations, including the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the International Organization for Migration, the International Labor Organization, and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Larysa Belskaya, Permanent Representative of Belarus, and Andrei Prokopchuk, Director of the Foreign Economic Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, drew the attention of the roundtable participants to the priorities of the Belarusian presidency of the EAEU in the areas of strengthening industrial cooperation, developing technological potential and digital transformation, improving food security, accelerating integration in the services sector, creating a unified transport space, and developing international cooperation.
Belarusian diplomats also emphasized the country’s leadership’s vision for key areas of further development of Eurasian economic integration.
The “EAEU Days” at the UN Office in Geneva were an important step in strengthening the EAEU’s international standing and authority as a successful and promising integration model, and outlined new prospects for cooperation between the Union and the UN and specialized international organizations.
