On the WTO National Workshop on the Application of Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures
23.01.2018On January 23-24, 2018 the national WTO workshop “Application of the WTO Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures in the Context of Belarus' Accession to the WTO” took place in Minsk.

The event, which is attended by more than 60 representatives of the state bodies, was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the WTO Secretariat and the UNDP Office in Belarus within the framework of the technical assistance project “Assistance to the Government of the Republic of Belarus in Accession to the WTO through Strengthening Expert and Institutional Capacity” .
The Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Vladimir Serpikov and the Deputy Minister of Health Ms. Natalia Zhukova opened the workshop with the welcoming remarks.
On the part of the WTO Secretariat, the representative of the section sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary (SPS) measures of the Department of Agriculture and Commodities Mr. Rolando Alcala and the representative of the Department on Accession Mr. Dimitar Bratanov took part in the seminar.
The agenda of the workshop includes, inter alia, the issues on the application of SPS measures in the context of the implementation of the WTO SPS Agreement, on the activities of the WTO Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, on the use of the WTO instruments to identify potential and current barriers to trade related to the application of SPS measures.
