On Belarus participation in the “Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week”

February 4-8, 2019, the regular annual session of the “Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week” took place in Geneva. The event traditionally brings together experts in various fields of humanitarian cooperation, representing states, international organizations, specialized non-governmental organizations.

A delegation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations led by the Head of the International Cooperation Department Dmitry Tkachuk represented Belarus at the event.

The HNPW participants addressed a wide range of issues of interest to Belarus, including improving coordination in disaster management, responding to emergency situations in conflict zones, usage of infrastructure for humanitarian response, and strengthening of national and regional disaster risk prevention capabilities.

The Belarusian delegation presented the positive experience of Belarus in preventing emergencies, reducing their risk and eliminating their consequences, providing humanitarian assistance, implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2030, and other important international instruments. Meetings with representatives of relevant departments of foreign countries and relevant international agencies were held on the margins of the HNPW.

The exchange of best practices and established contacts will allow the continuation of systematic work to strengthen national capacities in the field of disaster prevention, as well as strengthening regional cooperation.
