On the participation of Belarus in the meeting of the task force on environmental statistics
29.10.2018On 25-26 October 2018, the 15th session of UNECE Joint Task Force on Environmental Statistics and Indicators took place in Geneva. Belarus was represented by Ms. Yekaterina Poleshchuk, Head of the Environment Statistics Department of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.
The session focused on revising UNECE’s Handbook for the Application of Environmental Indicators in conjunction with important issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
UNECE’s Guidelines for the Application of Environmental Indicators was developed in 2007, it serves as an important guideline in the development and dissemination of statistical information affecting environmental issues.
At the event, Ms. Yekaterina Poleshchuk made a report, in which she presented the Belarus’ experience in implementing the above-mentioned Guidelines, as well as possible recommendations for its improvements.
