On Belarus’ participation in the joint Meeting of the UNECE Working Group on Water Resources Management and the Working Group on Monitoring and Assessment

On 28-30 May 2018, the second joint Meeting of the Working Group on Integrated Water Resources Management and the Working Group on Monitoring and Assessment under the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes took place in Geneva. The event was hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

Ms. Tatyana Slizh, Head of the Unit for Use and Protection of Water Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Belarus, and Ms. Snezhana Dubenok, Deputy Director for Researches at the Central Scientific Research Institute for the Integrated Use of Water Resources of Belarus, participated in the Meeting.

The Belarusian delegation took an active part in discussions and consideration of the results of the application of UNECE Convention on Transboundary Watercourses in 2016 ‑ 2018, as well as the draft program for implementation of the Convention in 2019 – 2021. Participants reviewed issues related to reporting on the Convention, activities for monitoring surface and ground waters, as well as related to exchange of data on transboundary. The outcomes of the Meeting will be presented at the 8th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Transboundary Watercourses, which takes place on 10-12 October 2018 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Belarusian delegation presented a report on the activities carried out by Belarus under the implementation of the Convention.
