Belarus delegation participates in the 62nd series of Assemblies of WIPO Member States
04.10.2021Belarus delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Alexander Shumilin, Chairperson of the State Committee for Science and Technology, participates in the 62nd series of the WIPO Assemblies (4 – 8 October 2021). The delegation includes H.E. Mr. Yury Ambrazevich, Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva, Mr. Vladimir Ryabovolov, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property, as well as representatives of the SCST, the National Center on Intellectual Property and the Permanent Mission of Belarus in Geneva.
During the week ahead, the Member States will consider a wide range of issues related to the functioning of WIPO global services and implementation of multilateral conventions under the umbrella of the Organization, will review the reports WIPO line committees, and will approve the composition of WIPO Coordination Committee and the Program and Budget Committee for the next biennium.
In his general statement during the opening segment, Alexander Shumilin thanked WIPO Director General Daren Tang for the long-term fruitful cooperation with Belarus, for the contribution of WIPO in promoting innovations and supporting SMEs, improving the activities of national patent offices of WIPO Member States. The head of Belarus delegation briefed on practical results the work of the Government of Belarus to improve the national intellectual property system, including Belarus’ accession to WIPO Marrakech Treaty on Access to Published Works and the Hague Agreement on Industrial Designs in 2020-2021, the preparation of the draft National IP Strategy until 2030, as well as the development of the network of WIPO Technology and Innovation Support Centers in Belarus.
