On the statement of the Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva at the UNCTAD ministerial round table on regional integration

07.10.2021

On October 6, 2021, Permanent Representative of Belarus in Geneva Mr. Yury Ambrazevich took part in the Ministerial Roundtable “Regional integration for a resilient, inclusive and sustainable future”, which was included in the 15th UNCTAD Conference program.

Mr. Yury Ambrazevich noted that at present, when centrifugal political trends, fueled by the impact of COVID-19 pandemic & aggressive use of UCMs, undermine multilateralism, regional integration and interregional cooperation can enable us to create the foundation for recovery and development. In this regard Belarus is convinced of the need to envisage the issue of regional integration and promoting dialogue between regional integration structures in the UNCTAD mandate.

The Belarusian representative informed the participants of the Roundtable about the high-level online conference “Harnessing inter-regional integration for SDGs” held on May 20, 2021, co-organized by Belarus.

Mr. Yury Ambrazevich presented the members of UNCTAD with an informal document consolidating the results of the conference, and expressed hope for the further development of the topic of regional integration and cooperation among regional integration projects within the framework of UNCTAD and other multilateral platforms.
